Two places were available for the shooting without incurring expenditure: initially, my own house in the suburbs of St-Hilaire and an apartment in Montreal (Plateau Mont-Royal sector) that belonged to Graziella Mossa, actress and collaborator in the project. Then, a third place was added, a theatre studio, also in the Plateau Mont-Royal sector, belonging to Marie-Noëlle Mainguy, actress. The characters were primarily created from these three locations: two couples, one living in the suburbs and the other in the heart of Montreal, the studio becoming the work place of Maria, documentarist (central character of the film), where the documentary part was shot.
The elements which could have been shooting constraints were, on the contrary, very well used. In the house, the paintings on the walls, as well as my other creations: paintings and sculptures; turned Genevieve (Sylvie Legault) into a painter living in St-Hilaire; we also integrated my two dogs which became characters in the movie. Thereafter, other secondary places (art gallery, restaurant, college, etc), which still did not incur expenses, were added to the shooting, including several other characters connected with these places. |
