Cinematographic currents

In certain points, my shooting method is close to the Dogma current (Lars Von Trier, Wittenberg...):

  • Using what is at my disposal
  • Carrying out the shooting now
  • Supporting the actor more than the technique.

On the other hand, I dissociate from this current by:

  • The use of certain lightings
  • A discrete assembly with several cuts
  • The music added once the film is assembled.

Ex-Centris Conference

From the very start of the project, we attended a conference which took place at the Ex-Centris, within the Festival of the new cinema, new media. Claude Miller and Gilles Falardeau, film directors were part of the invited lecturers.

What came out of this conference was that indeed there were many advantages in using the Mini-DV, both for production and play acting. Facing this enthusiasm from the lecturers, a fear was manifested by the attendees, concerning accessibility and ease to make films. The answer to this did not wait and one of the lecturers made a parallel with the advent of computers where it was naively believed that everyone could become a writer. The lecturer also added that the easiness did not bring talent but accelerated the process to make a first movie. Moreover, he added that for the first time since the birth of cinema, the ball was now in our camp and not only in the hands of producers and distributors. He advised the audience to find creative means to show their movie.
