After endless searching for producers in order to carry out my written scenarios and never obtaining favourable answers, I wondered whether I should try to carry out my first film myself. Coming from a theatrical background, I was accustomed to do a lot with little and now the new cinematographic technology finally gave me the opportunity of making a film with little means.
Once decided, I had to:
- Start with what I had (material, financial reality and human resources), accept the situation and let myself be inspired
- Find an idea for a simple scenario to shoot
- Choose a topic close to me and which touches me emotionally
- Constitute a small distribution of actors and a restricted technical team
- Privilege the improvisation versus written dialogues (in order to accelerate the creation process)
- Produce an intimate film in order to exploit all qualities and constraints of a MiniDV camera.
